Freetown, Sierra Leone, Solomon Lebbie a Maison, Abdul Kamara a security and Olive Bendu a retired civil servant on Tuesday, 29 October, 2024, made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 on three count charges causing grievous body harm: Contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1916, Wounding: Contrary to section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1916 and Assault Occasioning Actual bodily harm: Contrary to section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1816.
According to the particulars of offence, that you on Saturday the 14 September, 2024 at Kogbo 2 Goderich, Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone caused grievous bodily harm to Amidu Kamara with intent to cause him grievous body harm.
Count two revealed that you on the date and place maliciously wounded Amidu Kamara with intent to cause him grievous body harm.
Count three further stated that you on the same date and place assaulted Amidu Kamara in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons no plea was taken at it’s a preliminary investigation.
The prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Daboh sought for a short adjournment date because her witness is absent.
The defence counsel A. Bangura applied for bail on behalf of the accused persons that they are Sierra Leoneans residence with no criminal record. He added that if bail is granted they will not interfere with the prosecution witness and have reliable sureties who are ready to arraign themselves whenever called upon. Bangura mentioned that the accused must be treated with justice even though they are charged with serious offences.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail to the first and second accused, while he granted bail to the third accused with the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Leone (Le500, 000) with two sureties who must be residence within this jurisdiction with a National identity Card.
However, the case has been adjourned to the 5th of November, 2024, for further hearings.
