Twenty years old Robert Turay has made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Pademba Road Court No.3 in Freetown, on two count charges to wit Robbery with Aggravation contrary to Section 23 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916 as repealed and replaced by Section 2 of Act No.10 of 1971 and unlawful possession contrary to Section 33 (1) of Cap 37 as amended by Section 5 of Act No.6 of 1981.
According to the particulars of offence on Tuesday the 2nd May 2023 at Wilkinson Road in the Western area in Freetown being armed with a knife, robbed Olivia Fewry off one XS max iPhone valued Nine Thousand Five Hundred New Leones (NLe9,500) at the same time, immediately before or after such Robbery did use personal violence on her. On count two at the same place and date the accused person was found in possession of a kitchen knife with a red handle reasonable suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
When the charges was read and explained to the accused person No plea taken.
The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Saio Conteh called for a short adjournment date on grounds that his witness was absent and the application was granted by the Bench.
Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused person to the Male Correctional Center in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to the 21st June 2023 for further hearing. Deputy Superintendent of Police Saio Conteh is prosecuting the matter.
