They may come and preach the good values about football but Sierra Leonean being what he/she is the sport will always remain stagnated with so many challenges and end up changing nothing.
For well over eight years Sierra Leone could not play a complete league is a serious concern for fans and players whose careers are at stake. We have missed it for over thirty to forty years now in football.
The failure to give the game its due attention with commitments continues to cost the president of the football association Isha Johansen’s fame and credibility probably for presiding over the worst football administration ever the country has produced.
Before her presidency, some administrators came in as saints, with pretences of being so sincere and honest to the spirits of the game, but always ends up cheating resources meant for the growth and development of the sporting discipline, mostly leaving footballers to perish in penury.
As if they are no heroes the nation should be always proud of, most of Leone Starts veterans hardly talk about their days in the game, for several reasons ranging from rouge treatments that were mated on them while with the national team. Can this change for the growth and development of football in Sierra Leone?
Of course yes it can but only with constructive radical reform of the sector with complete over hulling and replacement of the current executive of the Sierra Leone Football Association including president Johansen, her entire executive and bring in a new crop of honest and sincere football administrators with the willingness and preparedness to rebrand football in the country by way of giving the game a brand new face.
Moreover much as football administration is concerned in Sierra Leone there is nothing victorious to say about Johansen led SLFA management and her executive, they are all failures, rogues and corrupt people who have kept the country behind her peers in the game of football.
All the FA cares about and is good at are financial misappropriations, breeding of conflicts, and killing football across the country under the watch of the line Ministry of Sports and president of the association, Isha Johansen.
In fact, the incumbent SLFA administration has never brought any trophy. The more reasons the nation’s football management now needs reforms with very a new face to lead the country to pure football development for generations yet unborn. Therefore madam president give space to others for you have had enough of you fair shares of the loots.
Development in the game, players with fixed focused on home based players then we can be fully assured of a smooth pathways moving forward with our visions and aspirations to bring home laurels.
The facts that the Johansens, Nahim Khadi and the Joseph Samba Kaifala administrations couldn’t liberate Sierra Leone football slavery of retrogressive sports, then there is no need to continue to have Johansen as president of the FA, no matter the number of high profiled international football authorities she comes to town with.
She’s being all over the place publicising the visit of CAF and FIFA PRESIDENT TO Sierra Leone as if they are coming to win us world and Nations Cups. Sham madam!
FIFA President Gianni Infantino and his African counterpart, Dr Patrice Motsepe, CAF president, are not bringing us trophies for God’s sake. No need to be glorifying their visits. Their visit in fact speaks no victory for us, as they are not in to win us competitions.
Thus as a nation, we must move away from that tradition and culture of having people in public positions of trust even if they are not delivering on their mandates as required by their terms of references.
And in the case of football reformation in Sierra Leone, fans shouldn’t continue to be complacence with the perpetual failures of Isha Johansen, her FA and whole sports sector. The call for total reforms must cut across involving all football fans in the country.
Once more to be very candid enough with the issues, football needs new ideas and people without distractions to focus fully on doing the right things for the promotions and growth of the game.
So to our delegates heading to the SLFA congress pretty soon must ensure that they vote their conscience and make the right choice in the interest of the game and the Green, White and Blue, so that Sierra Leoneans do not revert to the era of excuses anymore as we are experiencing now under the incumbent FA leadership.
In that direction, a selfless professional and results oriented football administrator, with commitments and dedications, fully inculcated with the culture and spirits of the game, such as any of the veterans. Not really campaigning for any one of them but SLFA and Sierra Leone football need a very serious leadership now than later.
At least somebody with no special interests in any of First Division clubs can be better placed to take Sierra Leone football to higher heights. So SLFA delegates beware of mercenary presidential candidates!
Mind you with the formations of bodies such as National Sports Authority amongst others, have not change the narrative at all. And for well over thirty to forty years football had not play in Sierra Leone, because we keep telling the same old stories, continuing with growing internal conflicts within the FA and killing football slowly.
However the problems have all along come with massive failures and corruption with no impressive record from the FA and the national team – Leone Stars, neither any of the First Division clubs, of which FA president owns one of them, simply because the game itself has not been effectively playing, due to lack of proper managements and invested conflict of interest.
FA leaders killing two birds with one stone; focusing on her team, FC Johansen and at the same time pretends to be paying mores attentions to the national team is a mere divided focus. What a conflict of interest. This kind of football management in Sierra Leone will never develop the game.
To further remind madam SLFA president, FORUM must make this clear that to the SLFA executive that the country’s football needs immediate reforms, not the visit of Dr Patrice Motsepe of CAF and his FIFA counterpart, President Gianni Infantino.
