With January 19 recently been announced as the deadline for the submissions of essays at any United Bank for Africa Sierra Leone Limited branches countrywide by the bank, the UBA Foundation has also reiterated call on participants in the 2023 National Essay Competition to drop their essays at the bank’s branches across the country.
The call on NEC 2023 participants was Wednesday 10 January re-announced via the UBA-Sierra Leone’s social media handles. The bank and its foundation thus encourage talented young senior secondary school writers to participate in the UBA National Essay Competition 2023.
Speaking at the official launch of the 2023 NEC 2023 in last November, the Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, UBA-SL, Alhajie Mohamed Samoura, vividly reflected on the background of the scheme. He said that the UBA Foundation is charged with the responsibility to implement its Corporate Social Responsibility, which it had been honouring assiduously in diverse sectors ranging from education, climate and the environment, health among others. Samoura disclosed that the Foundation has done a lot in enhancing the livelihood of citizens as well as ensure their wellbeing.
MD-CEO UBA-SL Samoura said the National Essay Competition forms part of the bank’s actions to unearth the writing talents of pupils across the country, pointing out that the project also seeks to tap into the hidden potentials of students and imbibe in them the culture of reading and writing.
He noted that past winners of their prizes have benefited from scholarship at University level, as well as laptops Computers to enable them perform exceptionally well in their studies.
