Freetown, 11th October 2022: The Freetown City Council (FCC) has on Tuesday 11th October, 2022 hosted the Freetown Waste Transformers (FWT) to discuss how both institutions can collaborate in rolling out a media campaign on sanitation in the Freetown Municipality.Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer emphasized on the importance of such  collaboration and reiterated that media and community engagement activities are integral in promoting behavioral change on sanitation.

Mayor Aki-Sawyer   commended FWT for a job well done in working to introduce a paradigm shift (with the use of technology) to change Sierra Leone’s waste collection narrative. She said the Council was excited about the prospect of a new waste collection mobile app that is being developed by FWT.

“Communication to support sanitation is critical… Its all about changing mindsets and I believe we will suceed if we continue to engage at all levels.” she averred.
