Some senior staff at one of Sierra Leone’s most reputable and trusted financial institutions, Rokel Commercial Bank Sierra Leone Limited have provided financial support to two sick children of The Sick Pikin Project. Their financial support, which has been termed by the Co-founder Ishmeal Alfred Charles as “timely” will benefit the lives of two sick children (Mathew and Zainab) who are currently in dire need of help.

This support came at a time when Zainab, one of the sick children on our list, needed dialysis and medication and Mathew needed medical scan as quickly as possible, for the doctor to ascertain the magnitude of his illness. Even though initially the support was meant for another sick child on our list, Hassan Kamara, having learned that Hassan has been helped by The Sick Pikin Project, they (the senior staff) decided to rather use the money on other sick children. They made a call to our Co-founder Ishmeal Charles and told him they want to support Mathew and Zainab – a move worthy of praise and emulate.

This is not the first time that Rokel Commercial Bank is providing support to The Sick Pikin Project. The bank is amongst the few institutions and the first bank that allowed our donation boxes to be placed in and out of their premise in their various branches in Freetown. These donation boxes placed at either the entrance of the bank or inside the bank have been one of our largest sources of soliciting funds for the dozens of sick children we have on our list whose parents cannot afford to pay their medical bills. Rokel Commercial Bank has been one of the strongest supporters of our cause and they have been committed to ensuring that we save the lives of sick children in Sierra Leone.

On behalf of the parents of Mathew and Zainab, the volunteers at Sick Pikin Project in and out of Sierra Leone, we want to wholeheartedly thank these senior staff at Rokel Commercial Bank and the management and leadership of the bank, because it shows that the bank has a very strong leadership whose values are not only based on financial management but also saving lives and giving hope to humanity. Special thanks to. Dr. Walton Dayo Gilpin Managing Director of RC Bank and Mrs Millicent Cole, senior staff at RC Bank who has been supporting The Sick Pikin Project every month with the little she has.

We want to assure you, our supporters and contributors, that we will continue our fight to save lives because we believe no child should die of a curable disease. Our collective efforts to ensure that this journey becomes successful have been a strong force and pillar in sustaining this journey. Together, with a common goal, we are saving the lives of the next generation of leaders in Sierra Leone. God bless us all and God bless Sierra Leone.
