As part of its relentless strides in supporting Government’s efforts to defeat the global coronavirus pandemic in the country, Orange Sierra Leone last Friday 19th June, 2020 made a donation of the sum of One Billion Leones to NaCOVERC and the National Council for Civic Education and Development through the line Ministry of Information and Communications.
The donation formed part of several efforts being made by Orange SL towards the eradication of the global pandemic in Sierra Leone.
Making the donation on behalf of her company the Chief Executive Officer of Orange SL, Aminata Kane Ndiaye, said the offer was meant to for the redoubling of efforts against COVID-19. She added that Orange SL believes that such support will help in mitigation of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Madam Kane Ndiaye informed that funds have been provided by Orange SL for sensitization and awareness rising about coronavirus and the COVID19 pandemic in Sierra Leone, mainly in provincial communities across the country.
“Orange-SL has been working in close and direct partnership with the Government in the fight against the global pandemic,” she said.
Madam Kane Ndiaye reassured Government of Orange SL’s enduring support to the national crusade towards defeating the global pandemic, adding that her company has facilitated learning and sensitization of subscribers to access information about the pandemic.
On behalf of Government and NaCOVERC, Solomon Caulker expressed his profound gratitude to staff and management of Orange SL for what he called the one of the biggest financial support received locally to help in the fight against the COVID 19 global pandemic in Sierra Leone.
Line Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rado Swarray also praised Orange-SL for the donation and described the offer as an appropriate involvement in the fight against COVID-19 in Sierra Leone. He encouraged other corporate entities to emulate the good examples of Orange SL.
In a related development, Orange SL on Tuesday 16th June, 2020 donated essential food items to Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce to feed over one hundred quarantined homes across Freetown in furtherance to support Government’s effort in the fight against the COVID19 pandemic in Sierra Leone.
