The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Kanal General Supplies, Mr. Amadu Nallo on Thursday 23rd February 2023 commended the people of Constituency 125 in the Western Area for turning out in their hundreds to attend his call, observed that politics is all about caring for the people, that the SLPP in Bo is the SLPP nationwide, that there are a lot of businesses around Kroo Town Road that are not honoring their corporate social responsibility to the constituency and promised to support the people a hundred percent.
Mr. Amadu Nallo is the SLPP aspirant for constituency 086, Bo District but doing business at 13 Kroo Town Road in Freetown (constituency 125).
He made the statement during an engagement with the media at his 13 Kroo Town Road headquarters in Freetown during which he also disclosed plans to donate 13 banners of President Bio to be distributed to the 12 zones in the constituency as well as T-shirts underscoring that he believes in the SLPP and that this is the time for action.
According to Mr. Nallo, he wants SLPP supporters to campaign aggressively for President Julius Maada Bio to win the presidential election in the first round citing government’s free quality education, construction of roads and bridges nationwide, women’s empowerment and other development projects of the SLPP government and revealed that due to his philanthropic and development gestures he is a household name in the constituency, that he firmly believes in the SLPP and that out of the 29,000 registered voters in the constituency, party supporters should work very hard to get at least 60% of the votes.
Mr. Amadu Nallo further appealed to his supporters to be civil and polite in canvasing people to vote for the SLPP reiterating that they should not abuse or fight anybody but only highlight the developments of the party over the past four years in the 13 zones in constituency 215 informing the people that his doors are always open to them to galvanize support for the party assuring them that his first priority is traders at Kroo Town Market as majority of them are single mothers.
However, he warned them not to disappear from their homes and market places after receiving micro-credit loans.
The chairman of the event and also SLPP chairman of Constituency 215, Western Area, Mr. Alhaji Komba observed that most aspirants are right now in their respective constituencies campaigning for the June 2023 elections but noted that Mr. Amadu Nallo is in Freetown representing the President because he firmly believes that the SLPP in Freetown is the same SLPP nationwide underscoring that the SLPP motto is one country one people that all must embrace and preserve.
He called on the people to intensify their campaign efforts to win more votes for the party in the Western Area and urged for all hands to be on deck assuring that Mr. Amadu Nallo would not limit his campaign for the SLPP only in Bo District but nationwide the reason he would interact, dine and wine with the people of constituency 215 in the Western Area.
He continued that Mr. Amadu Nallo would also honor his corporate social responsibility to the constituency where he operates his business observing that 60% of female traders in markets are breadwinners and vowed that Mr. Nallo would extend his generosity to all the 13 zones in the constituency.
Earlier in her opening statement and on behalf of the Kanal General Supplies, Esther Sia Bandabla, acclaimed all for attending the ceremony while Betty Kelis Pratt welcomed guests.
In their statements, some of the market women appealed for jobs and training opportunities for their children lamenting that they are suffering and are being intimidated by their opponents.
Highlights of the well-attended event were the symbolic presentation of the SLPP banners of President Bio to the chairman and chairlady of the constituency, conveying of best wishes to Mr. Amadu Nallo to emerge victorious for the position of Member of Parliament for constituency 086, Bo District and the question-and-answer session.
