Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, in Freetown, Sierra Leone has Tuesday 6 September 2022 awarded twenty scholarships to outstanding university students, to pursue courses in different field of studies in China.The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E. Hu Zhangliang reaffirming PRC’s government continuous commitments in supporting the country’s education, also awarded one hundred and eight scholarships to needy primary and secondary school pupils.
The scheme according the Chinese Embassy official Facebook page, is aimed at supporting Sierra Leone’s educational development, reflecting on China-Sierra Leone Friendship.
Speaking at the award ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy resident in Freetown, H.E. Ambassador Hu informed that Chinese universities admitted one hundred and thirty-one (131) Sierra Leonean students this year under the Chinese government scholarships programme.
On behalf of government, the Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Prof. Alpha Tejan Wurie and the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh jointly graced the occasion.
The attendees of the ceremony were also invited to watch the “Talk with Taikonauts” programme, which was specifically arranged for African young friends. Three Chinese astronauts who currently in the space, answered interesting questions from the youth of several African countries.
