Twenty-four years old Anthony Bangalie a Student made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on a count of Obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence sometimes in April 2023 at Tengbeh Town the western area in Freetown with intent to defraud obtained the sum of ten thousand Leones(10,000) from Sallu Sesay by falsely pretending that he will facilitate his movement to Canada knowing same to be false
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person he pleaded not guilty
Counsel representing the accused person C. Kamara made application on behalf of the accused person that he is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognisance on his behalf he will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses he made his application pursuant to section 79 3 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965
Meanwhile Magistrate Gogra refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional center in Freetown matter adjourned to the 7th June 2023 for further hearing Inspector Musu Edna Kpulun prosecuting the matter.
