Man, 30 Behind bars For Sacrilege

30 Years Old Gassimu Fadika was on Monday 5th June 2023 sent to prison by Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road court No1 for allegedly stealing from Action Chapel International Church.

The accused made his first appearance in court and was charge with one count of sacrilege contrary to Section 24 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge sheet it was alleged that the accused on Saturday 29th April 2013 at Action Chapel International Church, Doherty Street, Murray Town, Freetown, broke and enter into the said church and stole therein 1 Apple laptop computer, 1HP laptop computer, Samsung plasma TV and other assorted items all to the total value of NLe165,496/00, property of Action Chapel International Church.
When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty.
Defence counsels lawyer J. Mans, applied for bail on his behalf pursuant to Section 79(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act No 32 of 1965.
But however Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and remand him in prison. The matter was adjourned to the 13 June 2023 for further hearing.
Police Corporal 12090 Bangura Z. Y. is prosecuting the matter in court.
