The Secretary General of the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) Alhaji Ambassador Osman Foday Yansanneh has recently described government transition report as a one sided politically motivated document full of partisan opinions, thus the proposed competent commission of inquiry should look into the due process of the law.
Alhaji Yansanneh made the statement while addressing a news conference at the APC headquarters 11 Railway Line Brookfields, Freetown.
He said the 2018 GTT Report deliberately ignored its terms of reference and engaged in witch hunts of former government officials, with the aim of denting the heard reputation of the APC Leader and Chairman, former President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma and the party’s entire membership.
The APC Secretary General further damned the GTT report saying allegations made in the document are unsubstantiated, unfounded and baseless and are calculated ploy to smear the heard earned reputation of the party and destroy its members, including officials of the past government.
Ambassador Yansanneh said the conventional terms of reference of any GTT report is to facilitate and interface between the activities of past government and an incoming administration, which he observed the 2018 transition team failed to do, and made vicious claims against former government officials. He said the report used defamatory languages against the APC chairman and Leader.
The APC Secretary General therefore encouraged all to regard former President Koroma presumably and every other person named in the pro- SLPP government GTT innocent. He described the travel ban placed on former government officials as unconstitutional pointing out that the ban violates Section 8 of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone. Ambassador Yansanneh disclosed that the GTT report clearly indicated in its partisan findings that only northerners were engaged in corrupt practices during the last administration.
APC National Publicity Secretary Deavaux said the one hundred days of President Julius Maada Bio led SLPP government is full of failures and recalled the massive dismissal of public and civil servants, burning down of property including houses belong to the APC in Bo and Kenema, the attack of Her worship the Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr and APC Members of Parliament during the process to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Parliament. He also made mention of the astronomical increase in price of essential commodities.
