With national distress backed by the continuing political heat being generated by the failed ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Julius Maada Bio-led government, opposition parties are left with no alternative but with the option of emerging with a fearless leader come June 24 2023 multi-tier elections, that will take on the incumbent and restore democratic serenity in the country.
Speaking recently in voice note that was shared widely on social media, one of the leading flag bearer aspirants of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Richard Konteh urged the need for a fearless leader that won’t be in any hesitant to protect the people’s votes from election fraudsters come 2023. He said that the APC needs a fearless leader from the front this time around to deliver the people and the country from claws of SLPP dictatorship.
Dr Konteh therefore encouraged members and supporters of the APC party to be thinking of which type of leadership type they set to produce to challenge the dictatorship of the Bio-led SLPP regime, noting that for the current times and moving towards the electoral processes; “We cannot afford to wait our neighbours for another five years”.
He proposed that the APC party needs to elect a leadership with proven track records of his/leadership, adding that such a leader must be a loyalist and pure APC, with the highest level of demonstrations of love and faithfulness to the APC party. Dr Konteh said such a leader should be always ready to defend the APC party.
“We need a fearless leader. A leader who can defend our votes. One who can guarantee us that our votes will not be misplaced in wrong hands. A leader who can assure us of victory and one who can unite the APC party”, he said.
Dr Richard Konteh whose wealth of experience goes beyond international diplomacy, Christian religious-church administration, private and public sectors-with reputable records of proven results of service deliveries in the field of academia; in the areas of teaching and lecturing at public universities, as a cabinet minister, at the then Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and later at Ministry of Trade and Industry, Chief of Staff, in the Office of the President at State House to name just the few, has all what it takes to offer the leadership quality the APC party needs moving forward.
Among other socio, political leadership virtues around his personality, Dr Konteh also possesses the highest humility especially in interacting with people from all shades of opinions, irrespective of one’s regional, tribal, socioeconomic status and political sentiments. He relates very well with issues affecting down trodden APC party members and supporters across the country and Sierra Leoneans at cross cutting levels. And he is always busy addressing and fixing the problems of party followers from everywhere in the country.
Besides, the name Dr Richard Konteh is synonymous with the sincere demonstrations of his values for his APC colleagues, always showing that he truly love them and the party, and always in readiness to stand by people at all times. Dr Konteh has therefore vowed to defend the APC party at all times.
He has taken so much and vowed that he will continue to take risks for the APC party, as he expressed fervent believe that somebody must take the leadership role now than later, adding that if that risk taker has to be him – Dr Richard Konteh, then so be it, he is ready to lead the party against the ruling SLPP and defeat Julius Maada Bio come 2023.
He added that he is willing and ready to provide the required fearless leadership from the front by always leading with bright examples, and vowed to value each other, mobilize his colleagues to work hard and secure a landslide victory for the APC party come June 24 2023.
Dr Konteh called on all to support to the 21 man committee to succeed as they are trying to bring everybody together in the APC. He recalled the recent meeting held at the APC party National Secretariat on 11 Old Railway which clearly spoke to the fact that everybody in the APC wants peace and unity, as the party needs everybody to win the next elections.
