In the wake of the peaceful, transparent and credible outcome of the 24th June 2023 elections, the Mano River Women Peace Network (MARWOPNET) has commended the people of Sierra Leone for their orderly conduct, before, during and after the entire process.
MARWOPNET is also congratulating the President-elect, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the Vice President, the newly-elected Members of Parliament, Paramount Chief Members of Parliament, Chairmen and Mayors of Local Councils and appeals to the nation to uphold the peace and development of the country as well as forge ahead for peaceful coexistence, love and unity and admonished all to work with government to achieve its desired goals.
The renowned sub-regional organisation acclaimed the President for enacting the Gender Empowerment and Women’s …Act, that has increased women’s participation in the political process, increased the number of women in Parliament to 14 percent representing 30.4 percent female representation underscoring that the women of Sierra Leone are not in any position to look back reiterating that the President believes in women to transform the country.
Furthermore, MARWOPNET looks forward to a peaceful sub-region where every life matters.
