The NEC was launched by the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Dr. David Moinina Sengeh.
The first winner of the competition will win a scholarship grant of Le 50,000,000 to study at any university in Africa.
NEC is a UBA Foundation Initiative that has been organized annually for the past 9 years in the other UBA subsidiaries. NEC is aimed at promoting the reading culture and encouraging healthy and intellectual competition among Secondary School Students across Africa where UBA operates.
Applicants should submit hand-written essay of not less than 450 words and not more than 500 words.
Essays can be submitted at any UBA branches and the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education District Offices or at the Ministry’s Office at New England Ville in Freetown.
