Members of the Single-Leg Amputee National Team have on Tuesday, 22 August 2023, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Sports, Augusta James-Teima and her Deputy Minister, Kai Lawrence Mbayo, at their Bishop House, National Stadium Hostels in Freetown.
The President of the Amputee National Team, Aruna Thulla, thanked the minister for accepting them and congratulated her on her new appointment.
Public Relations Officer, Albert Manley Mustapha, said: ‘Madam Minister we are happy to meet with you and we are happy to see you as a female Minister.’
He appealed to the minister and deputy for support, introducing the players that have done so well for the team on the international stage.
The minister expressed thanks to the team for their visit. ‘I appreciate all your positive comments towards my appointment; all praises to God Almighty. Thanks to our hard working and dynamic “TOK N DO” President H.E Julius Maada Blessing Bio for appointing me as the first female Minister of Sports. May God Almighty continue to bless him,’ she added.
Madam Minister said, ‘I have heard all your updates on your development and challenges concerning your activities. I have great respect for the Single-Leg Amputee National Team. I hope and pray you continue the good work. My Deputy Minister and I will see how we are going to help your team.’
Permanent Secretary, Morrison B. Gboyo, and Director of Sports, Haroun Korjie, also made statements.
