The Street Child Sierra Leone in partnership with one of the leading tele communication company, Africell has officially launched the 2024 Street Child Marathon Race. Speaking at this event, the Country Director of Street Child Sierra Leone, Kelfa Kargbo spoke about the mission and the massive contributions of the organization. He noted: “Our mission as an organization is to improve the lives of street connected children including those in rural communities through access to quality education in a safe learning environment…for the past years, we have immensely contributed in saving and impacting the lives of many street children who cannot afford to go to school. For the past years, Street Child Sierra Leone in collaboration with other partners like Africell has helped or saved children from health impairment…” The Country Director further noted that Africell has been a good partner.Giving full update about the incoming Street Child Marathon, Alusine Kanu, Race Director Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon analysed how this event will be organised. He noted: “Join us in Sierra Leone from the 1st of May 2024 for an epic three or five-day adventure. Choose to run or cycle off the beaten track discovering the beauty that Sierra Leone has to offer. Winding through tropical jungle and local villages, the varied routes will take you through some of the most stunning scenery in Northern Sierra Leone. From a brand new full and half marathon course to a 10K or 5K option, there is something for all running abilities. This year we are launching an incredible 70km cycle for those of you that want to take on a different type of challenge. Regardless of the distance you complete, each race will provide you with a unique perspective on this beautiful country, all whilst challenging your body and mind…”
In his speech, Mark Mangnan, Global Challenges Manager for Street Child in Sierra Leone spoke about the educational support of the organization to street children. He said: “In a bid to bolster the educational sector and support vulnerable school pupils, Street Child of Sierra Leone has provided educational materials to over 300 pupils in Pujehun District…”
Manager Joe Abass from Africell complimented the efforts of Street Child Sierra Leone. He said: “For the past years, Street Child Sierra Leone has been fantastic in it vision and mission. I have been a good participant for this event, the Street Child Marathon for the past years, and this year again I am fully ready. Street Marathon will definitely increase and put you in good health status…and let me also assure you that Africell is always ready to support the Street Child Marathon come rain or shine…”
