Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No.2 on Pademba road, Freetown on Tuesday 26 March 2024, issued a bench warrant for Abubakarr Barrie surety father to Mohamed Barrie (accused) for jumping bail.
These accused persons, Lawrence James, Mohamed Barrie and Mohamed Sillah are before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 in Freetown on three count charges to wit Conspiracy contrary to law, Burglary and Larceny and store breaking and larceny.
According to the particulars of offence, on diverse dates between the 23rd to 26th January 2023 at No.4 Rock Lane Brookfields, western area in Freetown, conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit Burglary and Larceny.
On count two, the accused persons on the 23rd January at the above place with intent to steal, broke and entered into the store of Elizabeth Hinston and stole therein three hundred and forty assorted colored rubber chairs, twelve facial Sauna, six food blender, six big size flax, thirty six shovel, ten deep freezer and other assorted items equivalent to the sum of two hundred and thirty thousand Leones (230,000).
Count three states that, the first accused person Lawrence James on the 26th January 2023 at the above date and place broke and entered into the store of Elizabeth Hinston with intent to steal, and stole therein twelve facial Sauna boxes value one thousand eight hundred Leones (1,800) whilst in the custody of Ekna Cathrin Yon, property of Elizabeth Hinston.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons no plea taken. The Prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh informed the Bench that this is the third adjournment date the accused person and surety are at large.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura adjourned the matter to the 2nd April 2024 the 1st and 3rd accused persons are sent to the male correctional facility in Freetown whilst the Bench warrant for the second accused person Mohamed Barrie and surety Abubakar Barrie (alias Banthal), whose addresses are purported that they are living along Kroo town road, the Police went to the community to enforce the bench warrant but they could not see both the accused and the surety. The Court found out that they are living in the provinces, bench warrant still in force.
