Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has unveiled plans for a comprehensive national task force aimed at tackling the scourge of a deadly synthetic drug known as Kush.
This initiative, the Vice President said will involve all facets of society and will be replicated at district and chiefdom levels.
Speaking at the Town Hall Meeting on Kush organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, Vice President Dr Jalloh emphasized the gravity of the situation.
The Vice President stated that as Chairman of the Police Council, he has ordered that people arrested in connection to KUSH are refused bail, pointing out that two magistrates have been assigned to deal with KUSH related cases.
He also revealed that they have arrested 7 people in relation to 2 containers apprehended recently in connection to KUSH.
“Over the weekend, we intercepted two containers and 7 people are in custody. They will never see sunlight, they will be charged and will be sentenced, and no amount of lawyer will take them out from where they are,” he emphasized.
