Ferry Captain Goes on Remand for ‘Murder’

Alimamy Sesay an assistant captain at PM ferry on Thursday 4th April 2024 sent on remand by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 for the alleged murder of Osman Sesay.

The accused made his first appearance in court and was charge with one count of murder contrary to section 1 of the offences against the persons Act 1861 as repealed and replace by section 1(a) of the schedule of the Abolition of the death penalty Act 2021, Act No 6 of 2022.

According to the particulars of offense, the accused Alimamy Sesay on Wednesday 10th January 2024, at Shipyard, Kaninkay, Freetown murdered Osman Sesay. When the charge was read no plea was taken and no legal representation was made on his behalf.

The police prosecutor Sergeant 8811 Wilson F M informed the court that her witness were present but could not proceed in the circumstance requested an adjournment.

Magistrate Bangura however remanded the accused in prison and the matter was adjourned to Monday 8th April 2024 for further hearing.
