Position: Sanitation Dump Truck Drivers (8)
Location: Municipality of Freetown
Duration: Full time
Position Status: Fixed Term
Purpose of the Position:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Transport Officer, the Drivers will provide reliable and safe driving services to FCC waste management interventions and ensuring high accuracy of work.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the safe collection of waste/garbage within the Municipality (eg. On streets, illegal dump sites, transfer stations) and the disposal of waste/garbage to the recognized FCC dump sites
Ensures proper day- to-day maintenance of the assigned dump trucks through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, coolant, water, tyre pressure, battery water, check of tires, brakes, etc.
Ensuring that vehicles are taken to the FCC garage in good time when faults emerge.
Maintaining a daily log of all trips, mileage and fuel consumption trough a GPS system for monthly checking
Ensuring that all major incidents are reported to supervisor immediately.
Ensuring that garbage collection truck are clean at all times
Be responsible to inform the transport officer of renewal of registrations and insurance for the sanitation trucks
Any other duties as instructed by Supervisor.
Required Qualification (Minimum):
Secondary Education, Valid Driver’s license of at least 3/4 classes, Certificate in Mechanics is an added advantage
Required Job Experience (Minimum)
Three (3) years’ experience as a driver; safe driving record: knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills minor vehicle repair
Excellent interpersonal skills, pleasant personality
A good team player and capable of assessing risk and judiciously taking correct action
Position: Tricycle Riders (20)
Location: Municipality of Freetown
Duration: Fixed Contract
Freetown City Council is looking to employ Tricycle Riders in Freetown to handle collection and disposal of waste within the Municipality of Freetown.
The riders are required to:
Safely collect waste in various part of the municipality in a timely manner.
Assist with the loading and offloading of waste
Regularly check tricycle for faults and maintenance
Ensuring all scheduled pickups are conducted on time
Ensuring that the motorcycle/ Tricycle is cleaned at all times
Required skills for job:
Must be a skilled motorcycle/Tricycle rider
A valid rider’s licence will be an added advantege
Ability to work under pressure
Must be reliable and punctual
Must be trustworthy, understanding and hardwork
