REFUND ‘UNJUSTIFIED LOANS’ – PAC CHAIR

The Managing Director of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) Yusufu Abdulai Silla has been ordered by the Public Account Committee (PAC) to refund all ‘unjustified loans’.

 

The chairman, PAC, Hon Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, who is also the Deputy Speaker of Parliament has on Wednesday 12 June, 2024, whiles examining concerns raised in the Audit Service Sierra Leone 2022 Report on public finance expenditures by Ministries Departments and Agencies for the year under review.

Also formed part of findings of the 2022 ASSL Audit General’s Report, under the incompetent and corrupt Sierra Leone Commercial Bank leadership of Managing Director Silla, are Loans and Advances, Accounting for Loan Balances, Nonadherence to the bank’s policies etc. etc.

 

The 2022 Auditor General Report also exhumed issues that are not in sync with the SLCB financial statement; key among them range from ‘unjustified loans’ and others in which the SLCB Managing Director Silla in deeply implicated. The Chairman of PAC has vowed to leave no stone unturned in investigating the financial mismanagement challenges uncovered at the SLCB.

 

In a similar token, there hang over heads of SLCB senior Directors is the alleged procurement ‘fraud’ in which the bank’s Managing Director Yusufu Abdulai Silla is also allegedly implicated in, which the Anti-Corruption Commission is reportedly investigating.

 

Recent media reports blamed the ACC for delays in bringing the investigation into the SLCB MD alleged procurement ‘fraud’ matter to logical conclusion.
