The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio has arrived in New York for the 2024 Global First Ladies Academy.

Hosted by the Global First Ladies Alliance and the Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, the Academy brings together the work of the Alliance to support First Ladies and their offices, and Columbia University’s one hundred years of advancing public health and development, to support First Ladies work and dedication to the future of their countries, supporting their shared mission to improve the lives of their populations.

Dr. Fatima Bio, who has received several awards (both local and international), and recognized for her outstanding leadership in advocating for women’s empowerment and gender equality, will share her wealth of experience. Specifically, she will discuss, inter alia, the recently enacted the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.

The Academy promises to provide a unique opportunity for First Ladies to connect, learn from each other, and gain valuable insights from experts in various fields.
