Plans by the governing Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) to inflict havoc in the approaching 2028 election has been recently exposed by Abdul Kadiru Kaikai’s threats of bringing war to Sierra Leone if he does not become president in 2028. Understanding Kaikai’s statement, which I won’t describe as irresponsible, it has revealed and has spoken of plans by his SLPP political godfathers to resist peaceful transition from the incumbent to the All People’s Congress (APC) come 2028. A strategy they planned to orchestrate in a situation wherein the outcome of the 2028 presidential election proves otherwise against the SLPP, violence will be their only option. That is exactly what Abdul Kadiru Kaikai has exposed disclosed.
“…We are going into election. It will be bloodshed. And the APC will be bloody because they know if the lost to the 2028 election to the SLPP then the APC will be finished. So, the only thing that will give us victory is to have a fearless leader. This is why the APC don’t like me at all… they don’t like me. They attacked me in Falaba, they don’t know how I survived from their attack. I later went to Kamalo they never knew how we did it at Kamalo. We again went to Makeni they didn’t know how I survived. In fact, the paramount chief handed over the whole town to me as my own. So by right Samura Kamara should be around me wherever I go… when we come here for politics whoever believes him/herself should come out. I have said it at the United States Embassy in Freetown that if don’t become the president of Sierra Leone in 2028 I will bring war to the country. I am very serious about it. If don’t get it I will bring a serious war to the country that will be even worse than what everybody experienced during the eleven years civil war. I said it everywhere and I am well prepared for it. Well budgeted for it. To bring a war to Sierra Leone is just about $3.3m which I have already secured. The only person the army presently trust in the SLPP is me. So ears to the ground everybody. And I just need to start at Masiaka. Why we are sending this message clear is that we are not going into the election to lose but to win. We have our own army who also need protection,” said Kaikai.
As the popular Mende proverb says; “Whenever you hear a child points at a plot of land saying ‘that is where we are farming this year,’ he/she must have gotten the clue from either of the parents.” Abdul Kadiru Kaikai must have heard of the 2028 agenda from SLPP political godfathers before making a statement that is much more equal to a hate speech, with the sole aim of undermining the nation’s peace, stability and democratic gains that have been made this far by his party’s predecessors.
My reaction the statement of Abdul Kadiru Kaikai is not an activism move, but as an obliged and a responsible Sierra Leonean whose taxpayer money is being used to pay the brass of the pro-SLPP boy who is threatening to bring war to Sierra Leone. For me, the Kaikai boy didn’t speak by himself using his own voice, but with the voices and intents of the hidden plans of the SLPP: should the outcome of the 2028 presidential polls fail them they will definitely resort to war.
That SLPP agenda 2028 is dead on arrival!
It has been exposed and it will not work.
Kaikai, according to close State Lodge sources, overheard of the strategy from the inner circle of the SLPP. He is said to have heard and knows more than one could imagine, about the race and the whole transition. And then for the SLPP to just suspend the membership of Abdul Kadiru Kaikai, arrest and detain him is not as enough or firm as subjecting him under full police investigation in accordance with the laws. It is not a secret that he is one of Bio’s blue eye boys, but the law being what it is, as long as Kaikai has come in contact with the law then let the law take its full course considering the magnitude of his statement.
Statements of withholding power after Bio’s tenure of office are not new. Bio himself had earlier reminded the main opposition that he will never hand over power to the APC. In a similar token, the SLPP national Chairman, Dr Prince Alex Harding in 2023 reinforced that pronouncement after the June 24 election results were announced, that they-SLPP will not hand over power to mad people – the APC party. Harding’s remarks emerged amidst Bio’s wild and desperately searching for endorsement of his presidency across the world, after the announcement of the controversial presidential election results by the Chief Electoral Commissioner of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone, Mohamed K. Konneh. Harding re-echoing of the SLPP’s stance was also received with mixed feelings, with many condemning him and the party for their declaration of plans to reverse the democratic gains that have been made by the country and friends of Sierra Leone. Bio and his chairman never ordered their own arrest for their unpatriotic and unlawful utterances aimed at undermining national peace and security, as he spoke for and on behalf of his leader and SLPP party.
The SLPP party distancing themselves from the statement of Abdul Kadiru Kaikai is not in any way politically convincing considering that facts that had the SLPP not been nursing such ambitions behind closed doors, their son, Kaikai wouldn’t be in such haste to manifest and expose plans of resisting regime change order and peaceful transition of state power from would be outgoing Bio to whoever may emerge to succeed him as the next president in 2028. What needs to be made clear to SLPP is that regime change is a global order that comes with certainty which nothing can stop.
No matter what Bio, warlord Kadiru Kaikai and their SLPP “sojas” do power must change hands in 2028. Though he lacks the might to resist such world order, Kaikai might have assuredly seen the writings on wall as like Mrs Bio who has recently denounced her presidential ambitions to succeed her husband. The First Lady’s withdrawal from the 2028 race indicates the readiness of first family to exit the stage before they are told to leave.
Kadiru, you are not man enough to have appeared on social media video with bogus threats…redirect your energies towards promoting ‘Feed Salone’ and a period far beyond decades after the next ten years.
Another pointer that has been clearly understood from the remarks of the young man is that Sierra Leone in the last six years and beyond has been and shall continue to be completely polarised; as in the statement of Kaikai’s that they-SLPP, have their own “sojas”, which means that personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces are divided into two sets; One group according to Kaikai belongs to the SLPP. And the other is owned by the government and people of the Republic of Sierra Leone, if we are to properly comprehend the statement of the SLPP and Bio loyalist.
No doubt as there has been series of allegations from members of the public that the security sector, especially the military is divided along political, regional and ethnic lines. These allegations have been always countered by spokespersons of the respective forces including the RSLAF. But the cat was let out of the bag by Kaikai who categorically informed the world in Krio that: “We get we yone soja dem en dem sef need protection,” meaning that the ruling SLPP has their own soldiers who also need protection, which also spelt out divisions in the civil service not exempting the security sector.
“We want peace and lasting peace. We cannot take another war from anybody and no matter how much bigger is their military’s might and strength, we don’t give a damn,” said a popular businessman at PZ, central Freetown.
The people appear very much determined to resist any form of disturbances of their peace and stability. No amount war mongering threats on or before 2028 can distract Sierra Leoneans from getting their desired change.
