A delegation from Belliveau International School in Monrovia, Liberia, visited Sierra Leone from 16 to 19 August 2024 to explore the country’s cultural and historic sites. The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs organised the visit with the support of the Monument and Relics Commission and the Sierra Leone Scout Association.

The group, which included pupils, teachers, and administrative staff, embarked on a journey of learning and exploration. They toured key sites such as Old Fourah Bay College, at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay, Cline Town the National Railway Museum, Mombo Waterfall, and Number 2 River, with the visit aiming to provide the students with a deeper understanding of Sierra Leone’s rich cultural heritage.

Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, welcomed the delegation and introduced them to the ministry’s “Tourism For All” campaign. She stressed the importance of promoting Sierra Leone’s tourism and expressed optimism about future collaborations between the two countries, particularly in the area of cultural exchange.

The visit concluded with the presentation of Sierra Leonean cultural items to the delegation as a gesture of appreciation. This visit, which was a true cultural exchange, served to strengthen the cultural ties between Sierra Leone and Liberia, highlighting the importance of such interactions in promoting regional collaboration in tourism.
