The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has successfully recovered over 50 billion Leone, which had been misappropriated or unaccounted for in various government departments Agencies and MDAs. This recovery marks a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in public spending.

The PAC, tasked with overseeing government expenditures and ensuring proper use of public funds, unveiled the findings during a oversight visit at the Kenema District Council Hall. Committee Chairperson Deputy  Speaker of Parliament Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh highlighted that the recovered funds were primarily linked to irregularities in contracts, procurement processes, and failure to adhere to financial regulations.

The recovered amount will be redirected towards vital public services, The PAC has called for stricter enforcement of financial regulations and greater cooperation from government agencies to prevent future mismanagement.

The recovery of these funds is a testament to our resolve to combat corruption and improve the financial integrity of our government Hon Conteh Stated.

This recovery not only serves as a warning to those involved in corrupt practices but also as a beacon of hope for citizens looking for positive change in governance. The PAC’s proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding public resources for the betterment of the country.
