A senior member of the main opposition All Peoples Congress Party, APC, Dr Richard Konteh, has exposed the act of Dr Samura M. W. Kamara claiming that Dr Samura Kamara signed the report of the Tripartite without the total knowledge of some party members.
He made his statement whiles addressing the public on issue around the Tripartite Committee recommendations at the Liberty Online Television station.
According to Dr. Richard Konteh, there were things that they outlined to Dr Samura Kamara before he could have signed the report but he failed to bring those issues and went ahead to signed the report that they submitted to president Bio.
He said the signing of the report by Dr Samura Kamara was a surprise to him because they met on a Friday and they went through the 80 recommendations and later presented the divergent views and agreed on a where they could insert the divergent views in the report so that it could be part of the main body of the report before they could have signed it.
“It’s a surprise to me because we met on a Friday and we went through the 80 recommendations and later presented the divergent views together and we agreed on where we could insert the divergent views in the report so that it could be part of the main body of the report before we could have go ahead and sign it,” he said.
He added that, there were irregularities in the election that was why there had been divergent views. Noting that the views came when the side of the government refused to discuss the results, and that they as APC party believe that there were irregularities in the 2023 elections that led to the Tripartite Committee. “We believe that it’s because of the irregularities of the election results that they set up the Tripartite, so when the government failed to discuss the results it’s something that didn’t go well with us as a party,” he said.
Furthermore, he said they had earlier agreed on in the report and expecting to return on Monday after the Secretariat could have included everything in the report and later placed all the recommendations that the APC party made to the committee and later they would have gone through the document, to his surprise, he said over the weekend they held another engagement with the chief negotiator and they called him on Monday which he said he was in Bo by then informing him for them to meet 4 p.m at state House to present the document and later sent him the drafted one and Mr Konteh said he wouldn’t be part of that signing because the report didn’t reflect the minds of many Sierra Leonean in the country.
He said the ceremony went on and Dr Samura Kamara was there and he signed the report and they submitted the report to president Bio.
He said that he wouldn’t sign any report that he hadn’t agree with. “I will not sign a report that I do not agree with, if I sign any report or whatsoever it means, I must have gone through it and be satisfied with the content before I pen down my signature in that report,” he stated.
He said he is not in support with the way and manner the whole Tripartite Committee ends with the report and the signing because he believed that things didn’t go as expected within the process of signing the report.
