Honey turned sour in the mouths of over thirty-nine staff of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) when the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) quad descended and arrested them over corruption scandal.

According to reports, most of the senior staff mainly from the System Operators and Licence Officials across the country were in a meeting on Thursday 12 September, 2024 at their Head office when the ACC squad stormed the compound and frogged march them for interrogations.

This drive to rid the SLRSA of corruption emanated from the stance of the Authority’s Executive Director, Reverend Smart Senesie who invited the ACC to probe the authority.

The issue started in April when the SLRSA entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Revenue Authority (NRA) to integrate the payment system of income tax and circulation fees for every vehicle plying within the country.

The API System for all payment from the three institutions: Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority and the National Revenue Authority before licensing of vehicle was identified tampered with during the quarterly internal audit era by some System Operators and Licence Officials.

With this development, the Executive Director wasted no time to alert the Minister of Transport and Aviation about this deplorable issue. The Minister instructed SLRSA Boss to inform the ACC about the matter for further investigations.

The thirty-nine staff are currently helping the ACC with the investigations.

(Investigations Continue)
