One of the leading main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) flag bearer aspirants, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara has said on his official X handle that the peoples votes, like their lives must be secured.
He made the pronouncement due to dozens of popular call from Sierra Leoneans still raising concerns about the legitimacy of the incumbent Sierra Leone People’s Party SLPP led-government, expressing deep fears over the protection of the electorate’s votes.
Lawyer JKF’s X post has so far ignited a war of words between the First Lady Mr Fatima Bio and the highly intellectual and rest-oriented former Attorney General and Ministry Justice.
It all started when JFK took what is believed to be “honest swipe” at the governing Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) via his official X wall questioning the democratic legitimacy of the incumbent administration with concerns over the protection of the electorate’s votes.
“SLPP faces legitimacy challenge and we the people face government challenge,” JFK charged. “This impasse cannot sustainably lead to peace and prosperity”, JFK’s X message reads, and added that “the thrust-electoral fraud needs to be primarily addressed to restore confidence and stability”.
He emphatically concluded that, “people vote like their lives must be secured.”
The message shared by the opposition APC politician did not go down well with the First Lady, Mrs Fatima Bio.
In her reply to the opposition APC politician’s X message, Mrs Bio also posted on her official X wall saying; “This country also needs an opposition that’s true honest to it supporters”. Whatever that means? She furthered that, “2028 is around the corner and an intellectual like you, if you are truly one, are still busy using the social media to fake Sierra Leoneans. Get your house in order Sir. “According to First Lady, the current narrative is simply “Progress”.
It could be recalled that this is not the first time the First Lady has reacted to JFK’s messages on social media. However, the no-nonsense legal luminary who is renowned for calling things by their actual names, has always remained steadfast and intellectually focused. To many, he is not one of those sycophantic politicians who have given credibility and respectability a back seat.
“He is forthright and has exhibited leadership qualities throughout his professional and political careers. The First Lady should direct her diatribe elsewhere not at a perfect gentleman and well known intellectual like JFK, “stated a concerned citizen who pleaded anonymity.
