The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Young Generations Council, North America and New York Chapters recently organized a dinner and fundraising cocktail reception at New York, United States of America, between the 5 and 6 September, 2024. This event was planned by the Young Generation leaders in North America, including the Global Youth Ambassador Francis Barnett Hindolo, Mr. Ishmael Kamara Taylor of the New York Chapter, Kadie Mansaray, and the iconic CSO Mambu. The event was filled with delicious food and a bar, making it a night to remember for all the attendees.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of the distinguished guest of honour, , the First Lady, Dr. Fatima Maada Jabbie Bio. Mrs Bio who is the president of the Juluis Maada Bio Foundation, has been a supportive wife to her husband, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, and has been described by world leaders as the candle of hope for women’s and girls’ dignity. She has been a pillar of President Bio’s Big Five Game Changer agenda and has made significant contributions to the people of Sierra Leone and the world at large.
During the event, Mrs Bio delivered an opening speech, describing the evening as exceptional and commending the leadership of Francis Barnett Hindolo and the Young Generation Council. She expressed her honour in being part of the SLPP Young Generation Council in North America and celebrating President Bio’s accomplishments since taking office. Her words highlighted the importance of youth leadership in driving positive change and development in Sierra Leone and beyond.The presence of the First Lady not only added prestige to the event but also underscored the importance of youth engagement and empowerment in shaping the future of Sierra Leone. Her support for initiatives led by young leaders like Francis Barnett Hindolo and Ishmael Kamara Taylor demonstrates a commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and creating opportunities for them to contribute to national development.
The event also served as a platform to raise funds for various community projects and initiatives spearheaded by the Young Generations Council.
