Freetown, Sierra Leone, Samuel Koroma a twenty-four years old labourer, Ibrahim Conteh a thirty-one years old footballer and Augustine Pratt a twenty-eight years old trader have on Monday, 30 September, 2024 made another appearance for the continuation of their trials before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown.
They are before the court on two count charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and being found at night arm with intent to commit a crime contrary to section 28 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 .
According to the particulars of offence on Sunday 25 August 2024 at Lumley Street in the Western Area of Freetown conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit being found at night armed with a cutlass and a kitchen with intent to commit a crime.
Count two mentioned that on the same date and place the accused persons were found by night armed with a cutlass and a kitchen knife with intent to commit a felony. When the charges were read and explained to the accused person they pleaded not guilty.
Deputy Superintendent of police led in prosecution witness number one of Sergeant 9891 Peter Kaitibi attached to the Operations Unit Ross Road Police Station, he recalled on 25 August 2022 he led their Operations team for patrol division at about 2:00 am whiles on patrol at Lumley Street intercepted the accused persons the first accused was in possession of a cutlass immediately they saw them he dropped the cutlass into a dust bin the second accused was having a knife which he threw under a step nearby they arrested them and collected the knife and cutlass from where they deposited them when he asked them why they were in possession of the said items, the first accused said they went there to collect one of their colleagues to go to the Lumley Aberdeen area to their Operation they were then taken to the police and handed to the Criminal Investigation Department the witness said he made report as he concluded.
The accused persons was not legally represented they cross examined the witness
Meanwhile Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused persons to the male Correctional facility in Freetown and the matter adjourned to the 8 October 2024.
