As the scramble for the APC Party leadership reaches a new height, Hon. Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, ‘commonly known as ‘JFK’ embarks on a widespread consultation and answer-seeking journey to become the ultimate torchbearer of the APC Party.
JFK is a Legal Luminary extraordinaire whose 35 years of practice have been marked by excellence, discipline, and commitment. After incredible years of political and legal practice, JFK remains a global phenomenon in politics and law.
He was the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, former ACC Commissioner, former President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, former Deputy Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone, the only Sierra Leonean recipient of the World Bank International Integrity Global Awards, and the recipient of the just concluded 2024 Human Rights Award from the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone.
Given the number of high-profile politicians throughout the world with a legal background, both today and historically. Given how much legislation is drafted and adopted in government, one can see why having JFK as APC’s presidential candidate is useful. It is without doubt that JFK as President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, would bring a unique set of skills and experience that can be highly beneficial to governance and legislative processes.
Understanding Legislation
As former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, JFK is equipped with a deep understanding of legal frameworks, constitutional principles, and the rule of law, which are fundamental to crafting effective and enforceable policies. As a seasoned Lawyer and Politician, his legal expertise will enable him to scrutinize legislation with a keen eye for detail, ensuring that laws are not only well-crafted but ideally just and equitable. Another important reason I believe JFK will make good presidential material is the fact that he is acquainted with critical thinking and analytical skills, which are crucial for addressing the multifaceted issues faced by political leaders. JFK is adept at negotiation and advocacy, skills that are invaluable in building consensus and achieving political goals.
