Morlai Sesay, who is unemployed, made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 on Thursday, 23rd January, 2025, on one count charge of Child Stealing- contrary to Section 56 of the Defence Against the Person Act 1861.
According to the police charge sheet, the accused, Wednesday the 13th November 2024 at Fort Street in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, stole a week and five days old boy, Mustapha Sesay, against the will of his parents.
When the charge was read and put to the accused person, no plea was taken.
The state prosecutor- Sergeant 8811, sought for a short date to have a proper conference with her witness.
The accused was represented by A. N. D. Musa.
Meanwhile, magistrate Bangura refused bail based on the seriousness of the offence, charged and sent the accused on remand to the male correctional centre in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to the 30th January 2025 for the continuation of her trial.
