The Sierra Education Fund (SEF), a non-profit organization registered in Chicago, USA, Friday 21st February 2025, offered scholarship to 10 deserving students from the engineering faculty of the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU).
The presentation ceremony took place at the Goderich Campus of the university.

he total funding allocated for this project amounts to 84,700 New Leones (NLe), a significant boost for students who might otherwise struggle with tuition and related expenses.
The scholarship program reflects SEF’s commitment to promoting education in Sierra Leone by assisting students with financial constraints to continue their academic journey.
Speaking on the initiative, a representative from the Sierra Education Fund, Helen Keilie, emphasized the organization’s dedication to ensure that bright and hardworking students have access to higher education opportunities.
The scholarship, she said, is specifically designed to reward academic excellence and alleviate financial burdens, enabling students to focus on their studies and contribute meaningfully to national development upon graduation.
Milton Margai Technical University Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Philip John Kanu, welcomed the scholarship initiative, recognizing it as a timely intervention that would enhance student retention and academic performance.
He expressed appreciation for the partnership with SEF and encouraged students to seize the opportunity by maintaining high academic standards.
