VP Jalloh Observes Eid Prayers in Bo, Calls for National Prayers, Meets Tribal Heads, Visits Kpetema

Sierra Leone’s Vice President (VP), Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Sunday 30th March, 2025 joined Muslims in Bo City to observe the Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers at the Bo central praying field, New Site. In a brief address to the jamaat, the Vice President encouraged the people of Bo to use the Eid prayer day to offer prayers for the country Sierra Leone, reiterating that when people talk about a country, it means the leader.

He told the people that God has given Sierra Leone a leader who is President Julius Maada Bio, therefore encouraging the Imams and the jamaat to pray for President Bio for good health and long life.

Vice President Jalloh thanked the board of Imams in Bo and the Southern region for giving him the opportunity to pray with the jamaat in Bo District. He also thanked the people of Bo for giving him the chance to pray in Bo.

Alhaji Mohamed Mansaray, Chief Imam of Masjid Koroma at 169 Mahei Boima Road in Bo, officiated the Eid prayers.

After the Eid Prayers, the Honourable Vice President made a courtesy visit to the Fullah, Mandingo, and Susu Tribal Heads in Bo City. During the visits, the Vice President met tribal heads, stakeholders, and members of the various tribes, thanking stakeholders for organizing the various meeting and for the rousing welcome and respect accorded him.

Vice President Jalloh informed the people that the country is stable and peaceful; and he attributed the stable peace to the leadership of Sierra Leone.

He stimulated the people to pray for Sierra Leone and President Bio for good health and long life in order for the President to continue providing leadership for the country. He told the people that the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP)-led Government has undertaken multiple developments nationwide, assuring them that the Government would continue to spread development across the country.

The Honourable Vice President reflected on his support to the Susu Mosque for the renovation of a deteriorated roof some time ago, pledging to provide another help for the maintenance of the mosque as requested by the Tribal Head, Mustapha Sesay.

If Government scholarship is available, the Vice President assured the three ethnic communities in Bo one hajj ticket each.

In the late afternoon hours of Eid (Prayday), the Vice President visited Kpetema Village in Bumpe- Ngao Chiefdom, Bo District to sympathize with victims of the recent fire disaster. Vice President Jalloh, on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio, extended his sympathy and pledged government’s intervention.

He promised to engage critical ministries, department, and agencies as well as the private sector to speed up relief efforts.

Dr. Jalloh assured the people to liaise with the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) for urgent response measures, and the Ministry of Agriculture to assess and replace lost seedlings.

On a personal note, he committed to provide school materials for affected children, such to be delivered through the Minister of Lands and Country Planning.

Paramount Chief Alfred Sovula Gandoma, in his welcome statement, appealed for assistance in rebuilding burnt houses with corrugated iron sheets to minimise future fire disaster.

He further explained the destruction of seedlings, school materials among others.

Three hundred and twenty (320) people were affected, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, children, and a disabled person. Forty-eight (48) structures housing 94 households were destroyed.
