In an effort to prevent the scourge of Traficking in Persons, the National Task Force on Anti -Traficking in Persons Investigation Team has engaged the Minister of Internal Affairs Rtd AIG Morie Lengor Esq, to discuss issues and actions bothering on traficking in Persons and the challenges faced in investigating issues, relating to Traficking in Persons.

Briefing the Minister, the Executive Director, Anti – Traficking in Persons Secretariat, Mr. Dehunge Shiaka, outlined their plans in conformity with the Task Force, which among others is planning on mechanisms to strengthen periodic refresher training for Police Personnel within the Country and out of the Country. He also touched base on the challenges they have encountered in investigating issues on Traficking in Persons, especially in clamping down on suspects as well as presumed victims involved in Traficking in Persons, and further proffered solutions to address some of their challenges for effective and efficient service delivery.

Responding to their concerns, Minister Lengor Esq, informed that he had earlier engaged the US Ambassador Brayan Hunt wherein, they had lengthy discussions on the issue of Traficking in Persons, on measures to tackle it. He mentioned that to enhance the fight against human traficking, there is a

need to have vocal points in all the Regions, to liaise with them on issues relating to Traficking in Persons, as well as conducting a refresher training and training of trainers.

He also recommended that they do a concept paper, and a training calendar targeting those that they want to refresh and to ensure that Traficking in Persons training module be incorporated in the curriculum, to enable them to have full knowledge and information tips to recover victims and investigate traffickers.

Minister Lengor Esq, however, commended the efforts and commitments of the National Task Force on Anti – Traficking in Persons, reassuring them of his full support.

Representatives from multiple government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, formed part of the National Task Force on Anti – Traficking in Persons, made valuable contributions geared towards the fight against Traficking in persons.
