In a significant boost to agricultural mobility and productivity, Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has donated four motorbikes and two tricycles to the Mothers of Agricultural Women in Management Association Cooperative (MOAWOMA), a rural women’s farming organization based in Sierra Leone. The donation ceremony took place at Waterkey (Savage Square) in Freetown, drawing dignitaries, stakeholders, and media representatives from across the country.

The donation, made under the umbrella of the Coca Development Cooperative Society, aims to enhance the transportation capacity of female farmers, allowing them to move tools, produce, and inputs with greater efficiency. It aligns closely with Sierra Leone’s Feed Salone initiative, a national agricultural campaign launched by the government to promote food self-sufficiency and rural development.

A Commitment to Empowerment and Sustainability

In his opening remarks, Captain Fabsanko Kokan, Regional Manager of Africa Global Logistics, warmly welcomed guests and reiterated the company’s dedication to supporting Sierra Leone’s agricultural transformation. He officially handed over the vehicles to MOAWOMA and emphasized AGL’s long-term commitment to empowering farmers and boosting the agricultural sector.

“We recognize the vital role women farmers play in national development. By improving their mobility, we are strengthening the backbone of food production in this country,” Captain Kokan stated. He praised Mr. Mohamed, MOAWOMA’s legal representative, for initiating the project, and extended gratitude to his team members, Mr. Maroun Abi Ahad and Mr. Gassimu S. Fofanah, for their dedication in bringing the initiative to fruition.

Kokan stressed that this contribution was just one of many steps Africa Global Logistics plans to take in support of Sierra Leone’s farmers, and he urged the media to share their message of hope and collaboration across the nation.

“We Are the Breadbasket of Sierra Leone”

Speaking on behalf of MOAWOMA, Mrs. Yatta Samai, President of the cooperative, expressed deep gratitude and emotional fulfillment at receiving the donation.

“This is a dream realized,” she said, beaming with pride. “This support will go a long way in easing the burden of rural women farmers. We see ourselves as the breadbasket of Sierra Leone, and these tools will strengthen our ability to feed the nation.”

Mrs. Samai highlighted how the new motorbikes and tricycles will improve farmers’ ability to transport tools, deliver produce to markets, and respond to time-sensitive farming needs—especially during challenging seasons like the rains. She also addressed the growing threat of climate change, emphasizing the need for adaptive support systems such as improved transport logistics to maintain productivity.

“This donation is not just a milestone for MOAWOMA—it’s a turning point for the entire farming community,” she asserted. “We will officially present the motorbikes and tricycles to our farmers on Thursday, marking a new chapter in the Feed Salone movement.”

A Call to Witness Change

Mrs. Samai extended a heartfelt invitation to Captain Kokan and the AGL team to visit their farming communities and witness firsthand how the donation will transform agricultural operations. She underscored the importance of continued collaboration and reiterated her personal commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture and farmer cooperation throughout Sierra Leone.

Media Engagement and Closing Remarks

The event concluded with a vibrant Q&A session, allowing media representatives and stakeholders to engage with MOAWOMA and AGL leadership. All questions were answered thoroughly, reflecting the transparency and shared enthusiasm of the partnership.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Mr. Gassimu S. Fofanah, Head of Communication and Public Relations at Africa Global Logistics, applauded everyone involved in the success of the initiative. He reaffirmed AGL’s ongoing commitment to fostering development through strategic partnerships that uplift local communities.
