In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its global base and ensuring administrative readiness ahead of its upcoming lower-level conventions, the All People’s Congress (APC) has announced the launch of a high-level Membership Registration and Verification Mission across key countries in the Diaspora.
The National Secretariat of the APC confirmed that a delegation would soon depart Freetown to undertake the crucial engagement. The mission reflects the party leadership’s commitment to transparency, inclusion, and effective administration, especially as preparations intensify for critical conventions that will shape the party’s future.
The delegation will include the National Coordinator for Membership Registration and Verification as well as the National Financial Secretary. Together, they will spearhead the registration and verification efforts in select countries including the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland, and parts of mainland Europe. Specific countries in Europe are expected to be confirmed in due course.
While the delegation will be physically present in those major Diaspora hubs, the Secretariat emphasized that membership registration and verification activities in other Diaspora districts would continue concurrently through remote coordination. The National Coordinator will work closely with Secretariat staff to supervise these parallel efforts and ensure consistency across all regions.
A statement from the APC Secretariat underscored the significance of the initiative, describing it as a proactive measure to engage the party’s international membership in a credible and accountable manner. “This exercise is not just administrative, it is a reaffirmation of our belief in the inclusiveness of all comrades, irrespective of their location,” the statement read.
The Secretariat noted that logistics for the mission are currently being finalized, and assured that a detailed itinerary would be published in due course to enable stakeholders across the Diaspora plan accordingly and maximize participation in the process.
In preparation for the delegation’s arrival, all Regional, District, and Chapter Executives of the APC in the Diaspora have been directed to escalate the announcement to their members.
The Secretariat stressed the importance of broad awareness to ensure both existing and prospective members are informed and adequately prepared to participate in the verification process.
“This is an opportunity for all comrades abroad to renew their commitment to the party and help build a more accountable membership database,” said a senior party official. “We encourage every member to engage with this process actively.”
The Secretariat further emphasized that verified membership would be essential for full participation in future party events and electoral activities, including delegate status at upcoming conventions. As such, all members are urged to take the verification process seriously and comply with the guidelines that will be provided.
Observers say the Diaspora plays a significant role in the APC’s political structure, both in terms of ideological support and resource mobilization. By institutionalizing membership registration and verification in international chapters, the APC seeks to enhance internal democracy, improve coordination, and ensure that all members—regardless of geography—are formally recognized and empowered within the party structure.
As the party charts its course towards national relevance and electoral competitiveness, this mission is expected to strengthen its organizational cohesion and demonstrate its readiness to operate as a modern, accountable political institution.
