Freetown, August 2025 – In a move to secure more training opportunities for the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), the Director of Training, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Andrew Mustapha Kamara, on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Indian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, His Excellency B.C. Pradhan.

The visit aimed at deepening strategic relations between the Indian High Commission and the SLP, with a focus on advancing the professional development of police personnel.

Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police,, AIG Kamara expressed profound appreciation to the Indian Government for its continued support in providing training opportunities to the SLP through the High Commission. He noted that such programmes have significantly enhanced the knowledge base and service delivery capacity of the beneficiaries.

AIG Kamara further appealed for additional advanced training in specialised areas such as cyber security, forensic science, fingerprint analysis, and crime scene investigation, noting that these would have a positive impact on the organisation as it transitions from a force to a service-oriented institution.

In response, High Commissioner Pradhan commended the SLP for its effective security management, particularly in protecting Indian nationals in Sierra Leone as well as the wider public. He assured AIG Kamara that the Indian Government remains committed to supporting the SLP with further training opportunities in various specialised fields.

He encouraged the SLP, through its Training Directorate, to submit proposals focusing on specific training needs, including courses for senior police officers. High Commissioner Pradhan reiterated that India has been a long-standing partner in the SLP’s capacity-building efforts and will continue to strengthen that partnership in the future.
