On August 27, 2025, the Iron Ladies Kono held their first meeting at Allfia Bar, which commenced with prayers, marking a key moment for the DIB Movement in the East. The event was a lively gathering attended by several prominent figures, including former Deputy Minister of Political Affairs and Resident Minister East Mr. Karamoh Kabba, Regional Representatives Mr. Tony Konomanyi and Mr. Abdulram Conteh, former Deputy Mayor Madam Veronica Dauda, and Youth Leader Mohamed Lebbie. As each dignitary was introduced, the Iron Ladies executives welcomed them with a special dance.
Madam Rugiatu Sesay, Chairlady of Iron Ladies Kono, outlined the group’s main goals: to connect supporters and prepare for Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s visit to the Eastern Region and the Movement’s national launch. She explained her support for Dr Ibrahim Bangura, highlighting his calm and gentle demeanor as a sign of strength. She emphasized the Movement’s core values: “Heal, Unite, and Build,” stating her belief that only through mending divisions and uniting can the APC become a formidable force.
She urged her fellow members to adhere to these principles and avoid personal attacks or smear campaigns, underscoring that the Movement is focused on building bridges, not destroying them. Madam Sesay appealed to all women in Sierra Leone and beyond to join the DIB Movement, stating that Dr Bangura represents the best hope for both the APC and the nation. She concluded by calling upon everyone for total support for Dr Ibrahim Bangura’s bid for the APC flagbearership.
Madam Sesay also personally thanked and extended her heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, praying for God’s guidance and protection for him, she also thanked the district coordinators, the national leadership of the DIB Women’s Coordinating Team, and the entire DIB Movement for their hard work.
She also took a moment to express her profound gratitude to Madam Jeneba, whose unique and unwavering commitment has been invaluable to the DIB Iron Ladies National, acknowledging her fierce determination to the DIB Movement and her tireless efforts to ensure Dr. Ibrahim Bangura secures the party’s flagbearership.
The keynote speaker, former Deputy Minister of Political Affairs, Mr. Karamoh Kabba echoed Madam Sesay’s sentiments on the ” Heal, Unite, Build” philosophy. He praised Dr. Bangura’s strong leadership qualities and his past contributions to the APC. Mr Kabba expressed Kono’s readiness to rally behind Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, expressing confidence that he is the leader who, together with the APC, can “take back the power.” He appealed to all comrades in Kono and the entire Eastern Region to give their full support to the DIB Movement.
The meeting concluded with a lively performance by the Musuba jazz band, capping a beautiful, successful occasion of unity and mobilization for the DIB Movement.
