The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has formally presented a sponsorship proposal for the upcoming FA Cup to Africell’s Chief Executive Officer, Shadi Gerjawi, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen corporate partnerships and elevate football in the country.
During the presentation, held earlier this week, SLFA President Babadi Kamara expressed gratitude to Africell for its consistent support toward national development and its continued role as a leading corporate entity in Sierra Leone. He recalled their initial engagement on Tuesday, noting that the purpose of the follow-up meeting was to present the detailed FA Cup proposal and explore potential collaboration.
“My administration is committed to changing the trajectory of football in Sierra Leone,” Kamara emphasized. “We now have the responsibility to restore the image of our football in order to attract sponsorship and compete at the highest level globally. We would like to partner with you to support the biggest competition in Sierra Leone — the FA Cup — which is expected to kick off in January.”
He further highlighted the importance of preparing the SLFA Secretariat ahead of the new football season, noting that the completion of the facility would enhance professionalism and operational efficiency.
In response, Africell CEO Shadi Gerjawi commended President Kamara’s leadership and passion for the growth of football in the country. He assured that Africell would give serious consideration to the proposal, acknowledging the fast-approaching timeline for the FA Cup.
“We will take your proposal very seriously and get back to you shortly, as January is fast approaching,” Gerjawi stated. “We are optimistic about fulfilling most, if not all, aspects of the proposal, and we are particularly interested in supporting the development of a modern SLFA Secretariat.”
Following the meeting, CEO Gerjawi and his team were taken on a guided tour of the ongoing construction work at the SLFA Secretariat, signaling the start of what could become a strong partnership aimed at promoting football and youth development across Sierra Leone.
