At a meeting held on 11th November 2025, the Honourable Minister of Technical and Higher Education provided a detailed briefing to the staff and Commissioners of the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) in the presence of Senior Directors from both the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Ministry of Labour.

After thoroughly reviewing all allegations made against Prof. Aliyageen Mohamed Alghali, Chairman of TEC, as well as examining the evidences submitted by the staff who raised these allegations, the Minister confirmed that:

*Prof. Alghali was found not culpable of any wrongdoing and therefore fully exonerated.*

The Minister recalled that the Ministry had received a complaint letter from staff of TEC expressing resistance to working under the Chairmanship of Prof. Alghali. Consequently, the Ministry constituted a committee to examine the allegations and review all supporting documents. However, none of the evidence presented by the staff substantiated the claims made against him.

During the meeting, the Minister meticulously addressed each allegation, reviewed all corresponding documentation, and clarified that the findings did not justify any adverse action against the Chairman.

At the conclusion of the briefing, the Minister announced the following key decisions:

  1. Prof. Alghali should resume his duties immediately.
  2. He had been on personal leave, duly approved by the Ministry, to which he was entitled.

He was never sent on indefinite leave, contrary to earlier insinuations.

The Ministry will institute a comprehensive system review of the Commission to assess its operational structures, processes, and internal governance mechanisms.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring smooth administrative operations within TEC and encouraged all staff to cooperate with the Chairman as he resumes his responsibilities and continues his good work.
