State House, Tower Hill, Freetown, Thursday November 27,2025—– Hours after his successful bipartisan approval at the House of Parliament, following his nomination as Minister of Energy earlier this month, Mr. Cyril A. Grant was at State House,where His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio administered the Oath of Office to him.
Mr. Grant,after subscribing to the Oath of Office,thanked President Bio for the confidence reposed in him,noting that he was not unaware of the enormity of the task of superintending over a sector that is one of the priority areas of the government.
He promised to serve diligently and conscientiously,assuring that his long years of service to the country, particularly in the energy sector,will in no small measure help him admirably preside over the domain.
While congratulating the new Minister,His Excellency President Julius Maada reminded him about the arduous nature of the task but reckoned that he had appointed him safe in the knowledge that he has the requisite qualifications and experience that could be used to sustain the unprecedented momentum which the energy sector had attracted.
He urged him to work collaboratively with the rest of the team and assured him of his full support.
President Bio drew Mr. Grant’s attention to ongoing improvements and reforms in the energy sector and wished him a successful tenure in office.
The brief ceremony at State House came hard on the heels of a successful approval of Mr. Grant by the House of Parliament,where he received complimentary remarks from Members of Parliament from both the ruling SLPP and the main opposition APC.
Head of Government Business,Hon. Mathew Nyuma,informed the Well of Parliament that the proposed Minister of Energy was no stranger to the energy sector.
He catalogued his stellar contributions to the sector with specific reference to the implementation and supervision of donor projects.
Deputy Leader of the opposition All People’s Congress in Parliament,Hon. Daniel Koroma,said he was impressed with the track record of the proposed Minister.
With the energy sector and the Feed Salone agenda being inextricably linked,reforms continue in the sector.
