In a meaningful step to combat food insecurity among schoolchildren, the Shiloh Home and Feeding Center distributed essential food supplies to pupils of Shekanah Glory Academy on November 21, 2025. The event, held in the Goodrich community, underscored the critical link between proper nutrition and a child’s capacity to learn and thrive, bringing tangible support directly to a vulnerable community.

Isaac Peterson Tucker, the Administration and Feeding Coordinator for the center, set the tone for the day. He explained that the mission extends far beyond a single meal. For the organization, each food package represents a deeper commitment to the children’s well-being. “At its heart, this is about demonstrating care in a practical way. We firmly believe no child should be trying to learn while hungry,” Tucker stated. He also extended gratitude to the partners and donors whose contributions are the backbone of such initiatives.

The founder and CEO of Shiloh Home and Feeding Center, Ms. Ruth Sia Kemoh, was visibly moved by the pupils’ reception. She shared her vision for a scalable model of support, with this event serving as a successful pilot. “Our ‘One Dollar to Feed a Child’ campaign is a simple but powerful concept,” Kemoh noted. “It shows how a small contribution can have a direct impact, and it’s the foundation of our goal to expand this aid to other schools in need.”

The academy’s Vice Principal, Pastor Henry Kargbo, warmly thanked the Shiloh Home team for their consistent dedication. He observed that reliable nutrition is a cornerstone of effective education, directly helping children concentrate better and engage more fully in their lessons.

Echoing this sentiment, local leader Honorable Martin Gandie praised the initiative for its immediate and long-term benefits. Seeing the cheerful reaction of the children, he reminded them that this support is an investment in their future. “When we feed a child today, we are nourishing tomorrow’s leader,” Gandie remarked, urging the pupils to dedicate themselves to their studies.

The event took a group photograph, symbolizing a shared commitment to the cause. The event not only provided immediate relief but also strengthened a community-wide resolve to prioritize the health and education of every child in Sierra Leone.
