President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has released a new list of appointments to strategic public institutions, subject to parliamentary approval. The announcement, issued through the Office of the President on 28th November 2025, outlines a mix of senior leadership positions and board memberships intended to strengthen governance, enhance institutional efficiency, and support national development priorities.
According to the public notice John Gbondo Margai has been nominated as Chairman of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority, a role central to improving the country’s road infrastructure. Gerald Demby is appointed Chairman of the National Water Resources Management Agency, supported by Claude Sheriff and Fatmata Stevens as board members.
Rev. Dr. T. T. Samba has been designated Chairman of the University of Sierra Leone Teaching Hospitals Complex. He will be joined by Prof. Alhaji Njai and Dr. Ayesha Idriss as board members, signaling a renewed focus on the nation’s healthcare delivery system.
In the tourism sector, Allieu Kokobay has been nominated Chairman of the National Tourist Board, while Alusine Sowe has been named Deputy Director General of the Sierra Leone National Shipping Agency. Alex J. Mami has been selected as Deputy Director General (Admin) of the Sierra Leone Meteorological Agency, and Ing. Lahai Sowa has been appointed Deputy Director General of the Road Maintenance Fund Administration.
The Financial Intelligence Agency will see Christabel Adama Decker take up the post of Deputy Director General. Dr. Amadu Barrie and Marion Gouldson have been listed as board members for the Sierra Leone Roads Authority and the Sierra Leone National Shipping Agency, respectively.
Additional board appointments include Pastor Mohamed Sesay to the Right to Access Information Commission (Western Area), Leslie Gordon-Browne to NASSIT, and Marie Mansaray to the Road Maintenance Fund Administration. Ibrahim Sam has been named to the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority, while Prince A. Macarthy joins the Road Maintenance Fund Administration board.
The Produce Monitoring Board will also receive regional representation, with Mohamed Mwonde Allieu appointed for the Eastern Region and Memunatu Kadi Sawi for the Southern Region. Mohamed Sallieu Bangura has been nominated as a member of the Political Parties Regulation Commission.
Madam Nellista Lady-jane Stack-Davies is also listed as a board member of the Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission.
The appointments reflect President Bio’s ongoing efforts to reinforce leadership across public institutions, with emphasis on accountability, service delivery, and national progress. Parliament’s approval will finalize the new leadership structure across these agencies.
