Rt. Hon. Dr. Mohamed Sidie Tunis has reinforced his reputation as a committed party builder with a significant financial boost to the Sierra Leone People’s Party West Urban District Executives, signaling early and determined preparation for the 2028 general elections.
On Thursday December 19, 2025, the former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and Member of Parliament for Pujehun District donated NLe 300,000 to the SLPP West Urban District Executives during a well attended engagement in Aberdeen, Freetown. The contribution was described by party officials as timely and strategic, coming at a period when grassroots mobilization and organizational strengthening remain critical to the party’s future electoral success.
Supporters and party stakeholders present described Dr. Sidie Tunis as a leader whose political actions consistently match his words. They noted that his latest donation is part of a broader nationwide pledge of NLe 5 billion aimed at rebuilding, retooling, and repositioning the SLPP to sustain governance beyond 2028. Several districts, including Moyamba, East Urban, Bo, Tonkolili, and now West Urban, have already benefited from this initiative, reinforcing perceptions that the pledge is being practically implemented.
Addressing party executives and grassroots supporters, Dr. Sidie Tunis stressed that a strong and united SLPP remains central to national stability and development. He said the party must continue to be well organized, ideologically grounded, and adequately resourced in order to defend its achievements and respond effectively to the needs of the people.
He further explained that his support aligns with the development vision of President Julius Maada Bio, particularly the Big Five Game Changer Agenda. According to him, investing in party structures is closely linked to investing in the future of the country, as a cohesive political organization is better positioned to drive development policies and protect democratic gains.
Dr. Sidie Tunis outlined two key priorities for the period ahead. The first is total grassroots mobilization aimed at consolidating the party’s influence, strengthening support at community level, and securing victory in the 2028 elections. The second is intensified political and civic education, with special emphasis on the national campaign against drug abuse, especially the fight against kush. He urged party members to actively promote the message Say No to Kush as part of their broader responsibility to protect young people and communities.
The SLPP West Urban District Executives expressed profound appreciation for the donation, describing Dr. Sidie Tunis as a fearless, consistent, and visionary leader. They noted that his continued loyalty and material support have boosted morale within the district and strengthened confidence in the party’s readiness for future political contests.
As a mark of gratitude, the district executives presented Dr. Sidie Tunis with a Certificate of Appreciation. The ceremony also served as a platform for party members to reaffirm their loyalty to the SLPP and renew their commitment to maintaining political power in 2028 and beyond.
With growing momentum across several districts, party supporters say the road to 2028 has clearly begun, and the SLPP is positioning itself with renewed confidence and determination.
