The National Young Generation Council (NYGC) Professionals of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) have hosted their End-of-Year Party at the Ocean View Country Club Resort in Sussex, Freetown. Held under the theme “A United SLPP for a Victorious 2028 Election,” the gathering brought together senior party executives, young professionals and grassroots supporters to reflect on the year and renew their commitment to the party’s goals.

SLPP National Chairman, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, serving as the Distinguished Grand Chief Patron, commended members of the NYGC for the successful organisation of what he described as a disciplined and purposeful celebration. He praised the leadership of Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon for repositioning the NYGC as a principled youth bloc within the party, focused on development and aligned with President Julius Maada Bio’s national agenda rather than being used for political exploitation.

Highlighting President Bio’s continued prioritisation of young people, Songa pointed to the appointment of Dr. David Moinina Sengeh as Chief Minister as a clear demonstration of youth leadership at the centre of governance. He added that this advancement reflects the administration’s Human Capital Development agenda, driven by the Big Five Game Changers, particularly the Free Quality Education programme.

NYGC Leader, Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon, used his remarks to emphasise the importance of unity within the party as preparations intensify ahead of the 2028 general elections. He called on members to remain focused during upcoming internal contests, stressing that collective support behind the eventual flagbearer will be key in securing victory.

Chief Minister and NYGC Adviser, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, also addressed attendees, praising President Bio for his leadership and noting that the values defining the SLPP—progressivism, social democracy and radical inclusion—must continue to guide members’ interactions and decisions.

One of the major highlights of the ceremony included the presentation of awards to outstanding individuals within the party. NYGC Professionals Coordinator Dr. John Koroma and his team recognised several personalities, including President Bio, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, Dr. Sengeh and Ing. Kallon, for their leadership and contributions to youth empowerment.

The well-attended celebration closed with renewed energy among members to work collectively in strengthening the party’s nationwide support base. Participants agreed that unity, discipline and continuous engagement with young people will form the pillars of a strong SLPP heading into 2028.
