The Sierra Leone Police have arrested a suspect, identified as Kinneh Koroma, in connection with the killing of 25-year-old Christiana Johnny, whose body was discovered on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2025, in Njoluhun village, Moyamba district. The tragic incident has left the community in shock as residents grapple with the violent death of a young woman described as peaceful and hardworking.

According to reports from 24 Hours Bloggers, which quoted both police and community sources, Christiana was returning from Taiama Town, where she had gone to purchase food items, before she was allegedly attacked along a bushy path on her way home. It is believed she was assaulted with a cutlass, sustaining severe injuries that led to her death. Her body was later found at the scene, prompting immediate alarm among residents who then alerted the authorities.

Police officers responded to the report and began investigations that soon led to the arrest of Kinneh Koroma. Preliminary findings suggest that the victim and the suspect were previously involved in a romantic relationship which ended earlier in the year. Following the breakup, tensions reportedly developed between the two, and neighbours recalled several disagreements that had occurred over the past months. While community members have shared accounts of the strained relationship, the police have not yet confirmed whether the motive for the alleged killing is connected to the breakup.

Law enforcement officials say the investigation remains active and ongoing, with detectives gathering statements and examining possible evidence. The police have also appealed to witnesses and residents of Njoluhun and surrounding areas to come forward with any relevant information that may support the case. They emphasized that community cooperation will play a key role in ensuring justice for the victim.

Meanwhile, local residents have expressed fear and sadness following the unexpected tragedy, adding that such violent incidents are rare in their area. Many described Christiana as a young woman who was focused on her life and family, and whose death has created a deep emotional void. Calls have also been made for improved security measures, especially for women who walk long distances between villages and towns.

Gender rights advocates have highlighted the case as another example of violence against women and have called for stronger interventions to protect vulnerable individuals in rural communities. They urged law enforcement agencies and the justice system to ensure a thorough investigation and secure a fair outcome.

As the case continues to unfold, the Sierra Leone Police are expected to conduct further interrogations and possibly charge the suspect upon conclusion of investigations. The community of Njoluhun now awaits answers and hopes that justice will be served for the late Christiana Johnny.
