Bonthe Island, February 3rd, 2026 – The Mayor of Bonthe City, Mohamed Robinson, has highlighted significant developments on the island since President Dr. Julius Maada Bio took office in 2018.
Speaking at the Government Weekly Press Conference, Mayor Robinson noted that President Bio prioritized Bonthe’s development, leading to notable improvements. “Since 2019, there’s clear evidence of developments in Bonthe,” he said.
Robinson cited the construction of a sea-face wall to prevent flooding, massive road construction using interlocking bricks, and improvements in water and electricity supply. The city clock tower has also been modernized.
The Mayor credited the Green Public Works project, implemented by NaCSA, for creating jobs for youths and persons with disabilities, keeping the city green and clean.
These developments showcase the government’s commitment to transforming Bonthe Island, he added.
