Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has addressed grassroots supporters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in Pujehun District following a successful engagement with the Council of Paramount Chiefs, as part of his mandate under Sierra Leone’s Local Government framework and Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Decentralization.
Speaking to a large crowd during the holy month of Ramadan, Dr. Jalloh thanked residents for turning out in their numbers and explained that his visit was aimed at consulting key stakeholders ahead of an official visit to the district before June.
“I am here to engage you and prepare the ground for a broader engagement with the District Council and the Council of Paramount Chiefs,” he said, noting that discussions would focus on decentralization and a national development project supported by the World Bank under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.
The Vice President expressed appreciation for the district’s continued support for President Bio and the party, particularly during the recent lower-level elections, stressing that the contest was now over.
“The elections are behind us, and everyone should see themselves as winners,” he told supporters, urging that political competition must always be pursued lawfully and peacefully. He described the SLPP as rooted in national cohesion, highlighting its inclusive character with members from all regions working together for progress.
Dr. Juldeh Jalloh called on party officials at all levels to coordinate effectively in the spirit of unity and commended the government’s development efforts, especially the completion of the Bo–Pujehun road network, which he said had improved transportation and boosted economic activity in that part of the country.
